When a walkthrough contains a large number of photos or videos, the generated PDF can sometimes exceed our email provider’s 30 MB attachment limit. To ensure that emails are delivered successfully, Education Walkthrough now automatically replaces PDFs larger than 30 MB with a secure download link.
How It Works
- PDF ≤ 30 MB: The PDF is attached directly to the email as usual.
- PDF > 30 MB: Instead of embedding the oversized PDF, the email includes a “Download Attachment” button. This secure download link directs the recipient to a temporary download page.
Download Link Behavior
When the recipient clicks the “Download Attachment” button, they are taken to a download page. We offer two possible implementations for how this page behaves:
- Simple Download Page: Displays a single button labeled “Download Attachment.”
- Expired Link Notification: If the secure link (token) has expired, the page shows an error message: “The walkthrough download link has expired. We have resent the email to you again.”
This ensures that emails are sent reliably, while still providing a convenient way to access large walkthrough PDFs.
FAQs
What happens if the PDF is smaller than 30 MB?
If the PDF is 30 MB or less, it is attached directly to the email without any changes.
What should I do if I receive a download link and it says the link has expired?
If you see the expired link message, the system will automatically resend the email with a new secure download link.
Is there any impact on the security of my data with the secure download link?
No, the secure download link is designed to protect your data while ensuring that the file remains accessible even if it exceeds the standard email attachment size limit.
