Signing up for Education Walkthrough gives a school two things that are easy to mix up: a 14-day free trial of the full product, and a free Basic account that stays after the trial ends. This article explains both so you know what you have and what changes on day 15.
The free trial: 14 days, everything on
- Who gets it. The first person to sign up for a school starts the trial for that school. Teammates they invite join the same trial, see Add Users to Your School.
- What is on. Everything in School Premium: unlimited walkthroughs, the full teacher roster, the template builder and library, Analyze Data and Reports, and the mobile app with offline mode, see the mobile app guide.
- How long. 14 days from signup. The dashboard shows which day you are on, and we email a reminder three days before the end.
- Buying during the trial. Upgrade before the trial ends and the discount shown in the dashboard applies to a one-year purchase. Any paid license at the school closes the trial for everyone there and moves them to the paid plan.
Basic: free, after the trial
When the trial ends without a purchase, every trial user becomes Basic. Nothing is deleted. You keep your sign-in, your teachers, your templates, and every walkthrough. What changes is the ceiling:
- Walkthroughs. A monthly cap. The current number is on the pricing page.
- Teachers and templates. Small caps on how many you can keep.
- Locked. Reports, Analyze Data, the template library, inviting users, and bulk teacher import show an upgrade prompt instead.
Basic is for one person trying the app. A school running walkthroughs every week needs a license per observer, see How to Upgrade Your Account.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can we extend the trial?
A: Sometimes. If your team needs a few more days to finish a pilot or get a purchase order through, ask support before the trial ends and say when the decision is expected.
Q: My trial ended and I see ‘contact your School admin’.
A: The trial was started by someone else at your school and your seat went with it. Ask that person, or whoever buys for the school, to get a quote and assign you a license.
Q: Can a district trial?
A: Trials are per school. A district evaluating for many buildings should ask support for a pilot instead of starting one trial per school.
Q: Can I start a second trial?
A: No. A school gets one trial. After that, Basic or a license.
Q: Does the trial need a credit card?
A: No. Nothing is charged, and nothing converts automatically.
