Education Walkthrough has different user roles for schools and districts, and each role carries its own set of permissions. The hierarchy has six roles: School Staff, School Leader, and School Admin on School Premium, and District User, District Leader, and District Admin on District Premium.
School Premium Roles
School Staff. Restricted access, designed for teachers, giving them their own login to see their own walkthrough history and conduct peer observations. School Staff can log in on both the web dashboard and the mobile app, see their own walkthroughs, and use shared peer observation templates, but cannot create or edit templates, view school-wide analytics, or see the teacher and user rosters. Settings are limited to their personal preferences.
School Leader. Instructional oversight. Access to the full app and web platform, including completing observations and analyzing school-wide data. Ideal for assistant principals and instructional coaches who use the full feature set but do not handle administrative tasks like billing.
School Admin. Full campus control. Everything a School Leader can do, plus managing the teacher roster, inviting users, editing templates, and school settings. Typically the principal or head of school.
District Premium Roles
District User. Observation access across the district’s schools, for staff who conduct walkthroughs in multiple buildings without needing analytics or settings.
District Leader. Full observation and analytics access across all schools in the district, without district-wide administrative controls.
District Admin. Complete access, all schools, all data, district-wide settings (billing, school year calendar, Teacher Rostering, template locking), plus everything below.
Two Rules Worth Knowing
One user, one role. A user has exactly one role, and changing the role changes all their permissions at once. Role is separate from being a teacher. If a user’s email matches a teacher profile at their school, the walkthroughs they complete also appear in that teacher’s history, useful when a principal or coach is also observed themselves.
